DVDx news:
DVDx 2.10 release is out, added a count-down at computer shutdown when job is finished, we've completed WMV support by developing the volume splitting and the encoding by chapters. New WMV widescreen profiles for Archos Generation 4 (Archos 604 at 480x272 on 4.3" wide screen and Archos 404 at 320x240 on 3.5" screen) have be added. Shutdown can now be toggled while encoding, thru the settings menu. (30/07/2007)

DVDx 2.9 release is out, Starbuck has reworked the code which supports AVI multipass interface to provide a better user experience and a consistent estimated output file size. Xvid 2-pass encoding is the easiest to get an output file of the desired size while DivX 2-pass is easier for a constrained bitrate output file. You can use the DivX codec embedded calculator (just to adjust the audio bitrate and copy/paste the frame number from DVDx output settings window) to get the bitrate associated to a desired size of the output file. DVDx 2.8 release is out, Starbuck and Jim teamworked for hours of C++/COM coding to extend WMV encoding support created by DVDx Dev (James). Now you can edit every parameter of the WMV profile, save it as a standard XML (.prx) file. You can load any WMV profile containing one video stream and one audio stream, from any third party application. The standard and Ultra Edition installers contain several useful pre-defined profiles: Film (24fps), NTSC (30fps) and PAL (25fps) for computer display (low and medium screens), HD720p, VHS quality, CD-sized movies and Pocket PC for standard and widescreen display (26/03/2007) .
DVDx 2.7 release is out, changed Open DVD root menu behavior, now display a Windows XP new syle file explorer dialog, initialized with last directory used by DVDx. Thus it's no longer annoying to change DVD drive for multiple drive computers or multiple DVDs ripped on hard drive. Now display MPEG (VOB) file name without path in the MPEG2 file scanning progress window, required for long path current for DVDs ripped on hard drive (24/01/2007).
DVDx 2.6 release is out, we succeeded in migrating the whole DVDx project to the latest Windows development platform: Microsoft Visual C++ 2500 Professional with Intel C++ 9.1 Compiler.
This has immediate benefit for the end-user by fixing bugs introduced by previous compiler, such as when DVDx silently crashes when exiting Input Settings with 44.1KHz or 48.0KHz (no conversion) option. This will have great benefit for developers, so end-users, by providing new productivity features such as navigation across C++ objects declarations and definitions with one right-click. Intel 9.1 C++ compiler will provide latest greatest Hyper-Threading and Multi-Core optimization. And x64 cross-compilation will be facilitated. Debug and DebugP4 versions are back, so we'll be able to debug DVDx mush more quickly (25/11/2006)
