Video CD
Video Compact Disc (VCD) has been promoted by Philips as a platform based on CD-ROM to play movies on TV. The result is Video-CD are readable on computers, CD-i players (fitted with Digital Video module) and on most standalone DVD players.
1. VCD 2.0 standard
VCD is a CD-i BridgeDisc which includes specific video CD parts, ISO 9660 file system and one or more MPEG video tracks.
The current VideoCD 2.0 standard is given by the White Book :
VCD 2.0 (1995) upgrades VCD 1.1 format (1993) adding interactive menus, high resolution stills and fast forward/rewind capabilities.
