  1. Start ISO ripper with disc loaded in drive
  2. Wait for ripper to be ready for ISO backup
  3. Start ISO backup
  4. Blu-ray disc ISO backup job
  5. DVD disc ISO backup job


1. Start ISO ripper with disc loaded in drive

Once disc (Blu-ray / HD-DVD / DVD) is loaded in physical (or virtual) drive, the ISO backup menus are enabled.

Physical discs in drives are automatically loaded at start or when they are inserted.

A new menu has been added to the Ripper, an exact copy (decrypted) of the disc will be created in a .iso file:

  • Rip disc to ISO image (1:1 copy)


2. Wait for ripper to be ready for ISO backup

  • required space is calculated
  • start button is enabled

For DVD, option is available to keep VOB files encrypted (guess is for developers and users interested in DeCSS ripping software)

 



3. Start ISO backup

Click to start backupYou're now ready to start ISO backup, jut click the start button and follow on the backup progression.


4. Blu-ray disc ISO backup job

Blu-ray disc ISO backup takes about 1 hour.

Blu-ray disc ISO backup job performs decrypting to hard-drive (so was required space calculated) and then generates an ISO image file:

5. DVD disc ISO backup job

DVD disc ISO backup (with decrypting) takes about 40 minutes for a dual-layer disc (DVD9) and less than 1/2 hour for DVD5 (4.5GB).

DVD disc ISO backup job creates, first, an encrypted ISO image file (so any modern protections have no effect :-), then explodes the ISO image in a folder to perform decrypting for every VOB files (DeCSS) and, last, generates an ISO image file:
