DVDx 4.0 Smart Edition

To activate smart features, DVDx 4.0 Smart Edition requires an activation code which you get subscribing as MyDVDx user. Smart Edition adds smart features to Open Edition:

encoder user settings: video resolution, bitrate, audio sampling
one-click 2-pass encoding DivX-Xvid to fit video movies in one 700MB CD
one-click remux video files (correct bad index and bad sync.)
display remaining encoding time
display real-time encoding speed

Mac OS X notes: you may have to install DVDx 4 in your home directory if it doesn't install in Applications.

Linux notes: you may have to uninstall DVDx 4 previous version before installing the latest release, to proceed: `sudo dpkg -r dvdx4`

DVDx 4.0 Open Edition

DVDx 4.0 Open Edition doesn't have all the smart features but is easy-to-use to copy DVD and convert audio/video files. DVDx 4.0 Open Edition is free, open source and multi-platform. Like Smart Edition, Open Edition removes DVD protections.

Extras to remove DVD protections

DVDx 4.0 for Windows removes DVD protections but may require DVDFab Passkey for some DVD movies, you can download it from below (recommended download).

DVDx 4.0 for Linux requires libdvdcss to remove DVD protections. DVDx 4.0 packages will install it for you, if not (distro issue) you can get it from below.

DVDx 4.0 packages for Mac OS X includes libdvdcss to remove DVD protections.
